Firstly, I wish you great success in achieving your goals in 2012.
As you start preparing yourselves mentally and emotionally for 2012, many of you may be filled with excitement because you have a list of things that you want to accomplish next year. You can’t wait to get your hands on those projects to grow your career or your business, on those plans to buy a house or a car or go on that special holiday. You know it will be a very eventful and fulfilling year in achieving your goals .
Others of you may be filled with dread as you enter 2012. You may be losing your job, asked to retire early, your business may be doing badly and you have a family to feed and bills to pay.
In whichever state you may be in. you have a decision to make as you wonder how you are going to be achieving your goals.
What’s Involved With Achieving Your Goals In 2012?
I want to talk about decision making and goal setting. I listened to the giant Tony Robbins last night and I am very excited to share with you what I learned because this message is very timely for this time of the year.
Tony was speaking about why people do the things they do even when they know it is not the right thing to do. Why does an overweight person continue to eat chocolates? Why does a smoker who has been diagnosed with cancer continue to smoke? Why does a marketer buy products to teach them about marketing and yet does not even open up the package and do something about it?
What is missing to create the momentum that we need and we so desperately want to change our lives?
The missing element in the process of achieving your goals for many is CERTAINTY.
Changing Your Perception Helps You In Achieving Your Goals
In every situation, we have our own perception of the potential that a certain situation yields for us. So if you want to start your own business to work from home, you see other people do it successfully and you want to give it a go. But you tell yourself, “Jim has a home based business and of course he is successful because he knows so many people.” Or “Sue is great at this business because she is such an out-going person.” Or “Tony is rich and he has money to throw into the business but I have no money.” How are you going about achieving your goals?
If your perception is
The POTENTIAL is small => so I take little ACTION => and you get little or no RESULTS => failing in achieving your goals (AGAIN!)
and you say “See I was right” or “I told you so” and you then go into a wicked spiral that leads you further into the pit of depression and doom and gloom.
It does not have to be this way my friend. Change happens in A MOMENT: ecause change first takes place in your MIND. When you can see the CERTAINTY of something happening, half the battle is won and you will be on the path of achieving your goals.
Let me tell you a story. When I was learning to drive – when I was a teenager – oh, only 10 years ago …. no, I am kidding, that was too many years ago than I care to remember. I remember very clearly the day when I was driving with my driving instructor. I was driving along a road that has a fence on the side and I remember telling myself to be careful so that I do not drive into the fence. During this drive, my instructor told me that he has obtained a date for my driving test which is about 1 month away.
When I heard that, I remember to this day, that moment, something happened inside me. I said to myself, “If he thinks that I can take the test in 1 month, then I must be a pretty good driver today.” It is like a switch went on inside of me. I sat up straight, I told myself that I am not a learner driver anymore but I am a good driver and will soon get my driving licence. I looked at the fence on the side of the road and it did not bother me any more.
It took one moment because the change happened in my mind. I had CERTAINTY. I was certain that I can drive and I am a good driver. It is only a matter of time that I obtain my driving licence. The same can be for your in achieving your goals.
Roger Bannister: Achieving Your Goals In Your Mind
Roger Bannister, the man who broke the 4 minute mile. You know, within 2 years after his achievement, 37 other people achieved that too. I did some research on Roger Bannister.. Here’s a quote from him to help you with achieving your goals:
“John Landy, my rival, ran 4:02 three or four times, and he used the phrase, “It’s like a wall.” Now logically, I could not understand, as a physiologist, why a human being can run a mile in four minutes and two seconds, and four minutes and one second, and why somebody else won’t inevitably come along, train a little better, know that there’s a target to be beaten, and beat it. So that was my mental approach to it.”
Roger saw it and determined in his MIND that he can break the 4 minute mile record. So his perception was
The potential is huge => He took massive action => He got great results
It was for Roger Bannister, no doubt, he was certain that he could do it. The same applies to you in achieving your goals. See the potential and be certain that you can achieve it. See it in your mind.
Visualize Yourself Achieving Your Goals
Visualization is an extremely powerful tool and numerous studies have been done to test this. Many sports people use this. You may have heard of this basketball study or a different one with similar results.
A study conducted by Dr. Blaslotto at the University of Chicago was done where he split people into three groups and tested each group on how many free throws they could make.
The first group practised free throws every day for an hour.
The second group just visualized themselves making free throws without touching a basketball.
The third group did nothing.
After 30 days, he tested them again.
Of course the third group did not improve at all. How did the other 2 groups perform?
The first group improved by 24%.
The second group improved by 23% without touching a basketball!!!!
Let’s go back to Roger Bannister, he said:
“All sporting events are more mental than physical. You have to train the physical aspects for years. But eventually, even in the more complex movements, which have my respect, those who can pitch and bat or play golf and so on, the basis of it is laid down in the brain and the real question is whether the brain can be allowed to do its bit without being interfered with by psychological factors. The other aspect of the brain is that it must be positive. I suppose these two are connected. But, the brain has to have some overall image of what is being achieved. I did have the feeling that — in a sense — looking down on myself doing it. I mean being outside of my body in some kind of way. I think this experience has been described by others.”
See yourself achieving your goals.
Action Steps For Achieving Your Goals in 2012
As you enter the new year, here are 3 action steps to take:
1. Know Your WHY.
2. Have a daily ROUTINE to recondition your mind.
3. Have a system to achieving your goals.
Let me explain:
1. Know Your WHY: this will drive you to achieving your goals
I know that some of you may have heard this phrase “Know your WHY” as a cliché and I am not using this phrase as a cliché. You must have a clear and deep seated hunger for what you want to achieve. If you say, for 2012, “I want to make more money” …. is that a clear goal? Is there enough hunger to drive you to achieving your goals?
If you say “For 2012, I want to pay off my mortgage” or “I want to earn $10,000 a month because we are expecting our second child”. Now you actually have a clear and definite target. This will drive you to achieving your goals.
2. Have a daily ROUTINE to recondition your mind: this will help you in achieving your goals.
I have explained how important it is to recondition your mind. You must believe it in your mind first of you achieving your goals. I want you to take a fresh piece of paper and write this:
“By …(date) … I will have …(your goal) …… I attain this (your goal) by doing (describe what you will do to achieving your goals)
Write the above using as many words as you can to see it, hear it, feel it, smell it, touch it ……..
Once you have written this out, make a few copies so that you can have it with you to read it aloud before you sleep and the first thing you wake up everyday. Read it a few times during the day.
Do not question how, just do it. Overcome any unbelief or skepticism. Instead act with FAITH as you read your goal many times a day. Your subconscious mind will take these words as instructions and act on them.
The technique above is taken from Napoleon Hill’s book “Think and Grow Rich”. In this link HERE, you will find a FREE copy of the book. Download it: it is a must read if you are serious about achieving your goals. It will change your life.
3. Have a system to lead you in achieving your goals and change your life.
Many of you here have a desire to set up a home business and work from home. I want to congratulate you on making this wise decision. You do not have to report to a boss, you can work from the comfort of your own home, in fact, from anywhere you like and you have complete control of your time, your life style, your schedule and you get to keep everything you earn.
While you have the desire to work from home, many of you do not know what to do or how to do it. I am not going to delve into this in this message. But I will not leave you on in the dark. I will, in the days and weeks to come, show you a number of avenues where you can set up a successful business from home and achieve MLM success.
If you cannot wait, then contact me using this LINK with your email address and phone number and I will get in touch with you.
In the meantime, I wish you and your loved ones a joyous and most memorable time at this special time of the year. Enter 2012 with CERTAINTY and faith that it will be a great year, where you will be achieving your goals and living the life you dream about.

Awesome post, thank you.
